Another weekend at home

This weekend I managed to squeeze a trip to Spain to visit family & friends.

After spending a lazy Friday at my parents' place and a lazy Saturday at a friends' house, I decided that on Sunday I had to do something more productive.

So on Sunday I got up early and went for a morning ride with my F650GS (couldn't skip lunch, my dad was cooking some of his fish specialties!!!).

I headed to the Pyrenees (too warm to go somewhere else!) and I enjoyed it a lot!

This is the route I followed:

(This area of Catalonia is very close to the French border - actually, if you draw a straight line, Espinavell is less than 5 Km from France).

What did I do?

I rode up to Sant Joan de les Abadesses and from there I went to Camprodon and then Espinavell.

In Espinavell I took a track (wide and well maintained) that leads to Setcases. What a beautiful landscape! There was a bit of a traffic, but I was riding VERY slow, so I had no issues.

While riding up the hill from Espinavell, there are some very nice views of the Costabona and of other mountains (I don't know their names). The day was gorgeous. Sunny. No wind. And thanks to the altitude temperature was bearable.

The descent to Setcases is mostly between trees. This means I had plenty of shade, so temperature was not a problem.

I enjoyed it a lot! Even thought the track was very easy, I admit I was riding very slow (my off-road skills are deplorable...) but I was very happy to see such a nice landscape and to be in the middle of the mountain with my small GS! I have to find more tracks similar to this one!

Back to the route:

Once in Setcases, I rode back to Camprodon and, after Camprodon, I took a concrete track which communicates with Ogassa.

In Ogassa I did a time check and realized I had to head back home, otherwise was going to be late for lunch. So I rode to Sant Joan de les Abadesses and, from there, I went home.

It wasn't an ambitious ride, just a relaxing one, but it made my day!

And as usual, some pics here:

Se acabaron las vacaciones! - Holidays finished!

(for English text, please scroll down!)

Heidi y yo hemos hecho 7.400 y pico Km.

Beso gordisimo,

Marta & Heidi.

Holidays finished!

This morning I’ve arrived to Basel and I’m working again (well, right now it’s my 'lunch time').

What a shock! Yesterday I woke up in Norway and today I’m working in Basel, ugh!!!

When finishing lunch, I’ll quickly go to the parking to take all luggage home (Heidi is still fully loaded!). This morning, when I’ve arrived, I’ve left her in the parking and rushed home to see my cat. Oh my God! How I’ve missed him! He’s doing great, my friends have taken very good care of him!

Looks like the poor thing has suffered a lot due to the heat of the last days and has decided to molt all his fur in one go. What a pain! The apartment is full of cat fur… I’ve had been brushing him for one hour and the brush got full of fur every time… Have enough stuff for two pillows…

Let’s see if this weekend I can upload more pics and make a summary report of the trip… I’d also like to write the full daily reports (like I did for day 1 and day 2) but not quite sure if I’ll have enough time… (but I’ll try, because this is what I really like doing!)

The day before yesterday I was thinking of going to the Alps this weekend, but today I’ve thought that I better stayed at home and do a bit of work and housekeeping. Additionally I have pain in my right thumb. Yesterday I trapped it with the door leading to the parking at the hotel in Kristiansand and I think it’s getting worse. If it doesn’t improve in a couple of days, I’ll go to the doctor (maybe there’s some issue with some small bone…).

Yesterday in the night train from Hamburg to Lörrach I did some calculations:

Heidi and I have done 7.400 Km. together (a bit more maybe).

6.400 of these, in Norway

We should add to this the 1.600 Km done by train through Germany and the countless ferries in Scandinavia (need to check the map, but I guess we’ve taken 20 or more!).

According to Heidi’s computer, she has drunk an average of 5.2 liters each 100 Km.

She has also drunk 750 ml of motor oil.

But the best is: we haven’t fallen down! Zero falls! (we were about to fall down a few times, but we managed to stand!)

After this long trip together, we’ve decided that we are made for each other!

Ok, time to go to the parking! As said above, I’ll try to post more things this weekend!

Big hug,

Marta & Heidi.

Summary of the three last days (with pics!)

Hi All!

Quick update of the last 3 days (and then some pics, of course! :D)

15th July: Molsjoen – Oppdal (538 Km).

E6 was a bit stressing (too much traffic) so I left it as soon as I could.

In Grong took road 17 (it was like riding in the Swiss Jura!) and from there took road 720 up to Rorvik. Gorgeous road this last one! Pity it started to rain...

Took the ferry from Rorvik to Flakk, avoided Trondheim thanks to back road 707 and got to Oppdal via E6.

The last E6 stretch was a pain. Raining, lots of traffic that were spraying muddy water, speed controls, my left knee was aching... Ouf!

But I made it to Oppdal, my goal for that day and got a very nice appartment there.

Had a delicious salmon portion for dinner (the Lofoten one I buy in Coop!) and got to bed early, because next day I was going to be hiking in Dovrefjel, home of the Musk Oxes!!!

16th of July: Hiking in Dovrefjel (Heidi had a rest!)

No motorbike today.

Hiking in Dovrefjel (guided hike) to spot musk oxes.

Gorgeous landscape, gorgeous weather (a bit windy, but good because it frightened all bugs), great group (I was adopted by a Norwegian family – the two daughters were so nice and cute!!!)... And we saw some musk oxes!!! (from a security distance – not to disturb the animals).

They were massive!!! And cuuute!!! I wanted to hug them!!!

We also saw a group of nice Icelandic horses. They were beautiful! And some of them really sociable!

We were back to Oppdal late afternoon.

Filled Heidi with oil and bougth a new bottle (had finished the 'posh' Castrol I had).

At night I joined a moose safari. At the beginning was a bit boring, but then we started spotting mooses and everything went much better.

Went to bed around 2 AM.

Great day!!!

17th July: Oppdal - Lom (plus road 55 stretch) – 282 Km

Woke up late.

Took it easy for breakfast, packing...

E6 from Oppdal to Otta. Expected another traffic nightmare, but was completely mistaken!

Few traffic and nice views.

In Otta took road 15 direction Lom.

Beautiful!

Got a hotel in Lom (expensive!) and decided to do road 55 (Sognefjellet). Considered one of the nicest roads in Norway.

Oh my God!!!

What a landscape!!! Had to stop every few meters to take pictures!!!

Awesome!!!

I spent some time sitting next to a stream listening the water flow... That was peace...

With so many pics and stops it took me a while to get to the top (just 50 Km but I invested hours!).

Temp was going down (10ºC less than in Lom) and started getting windy so decided to come back to Lom the same way (was going to take too long if I did a complete loop finishing 55 and taking 5 and 15 again).

What an afternoon! So happy I decided to come back do this road (hadn't had time on my way North).

Once in the hotel, had a warm shower and went out to get something to eat.

I took the opportunity to visit Lom's stave church. Was closed, but the building & graveyard were beautiful! Was very black and you could smell tarr. Then I saw a sign explaining that had been recently 'tarred'.

And that was Saturday!

Que frio que he pasado!

(for English text scroll down!!!)

Aqui teneis el parte del dia!!!

Ruta: Tysfjord-Mosjoen (carretera E6) – 416 Km

Besos!!!

Fotos de hoy, aqui

Today's update!

Route: Tysfjord-Mosjoen (E6 road) – 416 Km

Most of the day under the rain and at 8-12ºC (coldest point: 7ºC at the Artic Circle Centre in the Saltfjellet mountains)

Feeling of the day: numbed by cold and rain (I'm Mediterranean!!!).

Great landscape all along the E6 but no pics (weather was not inviting...).

I had the feeling it was going to be a boring ride but was completely mistaken! Great views (when not covered by fog and low clouds) and funny road (what a pity it was soaked!).

Long stop at the Artic Circle Centre (Polarsirkelsenteret) for lunch, souvenirs, postcards, getting warm again...

Some muddy road works (yesterday it was gravel and stones, today it was mud – what about tomorrow???).

Sleeping in a Norlandia hotel in Mosjoen. Not a cosy one, but convenient (started to rain again, wind was awfully cold and wanted to stop and have a hot shower!).

Going to bed, I'm tired!

Big hug!

Pics of the day, here

Quick summary of today

(el texto en español está mas abajo!)

Hi!

Summary from today:

Kautokeino - Tysfjord (580Km)

Windy ride through Finland (not as windy as yesterday, though!).

A bit of involuntary off road in Sweden (road works that made me sweat!).

Rainy afternoon in Norway.

After taking the ferry from Skarberget to Bognes, I've ended up in a motel room in Tysford. Have great views to the fiord. This area is extremely beautiful, love it! Glad I came here!

I've had a big Lofoten salmon portion for dinner (got it in the ICA supermarket next to the motel). Deliciousss!

Good news: no more mosquitoes!

Good news 2: Heidi and I are no longer alone! Elg joined us today and we make a great team!

Pics from today (click here!)

Hola hola!

Resumen muy rapido de hoy:

Ruta: Kautokeino - Tysfjord (580Km)

Me he puesto morada de salmon pa cenar. Me he comprado un fileton en el supermercado ICA al lado del motel y me lo he zampao entero pa cenar. Que rico!!!

Good news: ya no hay mosquitos. Me encanta la costa!

Good news 2: Heidi y yo ya no estamos solas.

Apologies - Disculpas!!!

(texto en español mas abajo!!!)

Alive!

Save and sound! Everything going perfectly!

Heidi doing well (just drinking a bit of oil, hahaha...).

Apologies for having been silent such a long time, but there has been an awful combination of lack of time and lack of wireless... (when I had wireless, I was so tired that I only wanted to sleep, and when I was fit for internet, then I had no wireless!!!). Sorryyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

Very good news: yesterday I reached Knivskjelodden!!! The most northern point of Mageroya Island!!! Also did a bird safari in the Nature Reserve of Gjesvaersappan and saw sea eagles!!!

I'm sooooooooooooooo happy!!!

Today I'm sleeping in Kautokeino. Norwegian Lappland.

Awful! Millions of mosquitos trying to bite me (first day in Norway I suffer from these beasts, tomorrow early in the morning I'll be heading to the coast again trying to avoid them!).

Apparently the camping where I am has a great wireless connection, but the room where I am has almost no signal. Keeps cracking but I'm not going to go out to the next building to get a better signal - I can die because of the mosquitos!

I'll try to post a summary of the route I've done so far later on, but can't promise!

Big hug to all!!!

Marta & Heidi.

Toi viva!!!
Perdonnnnnnnnnnn!!!
Tengo muuuy buenas noticias!

Rainy ride - About tunnels and ferry trips

5th July 2010
Geilo - Stryn
340 Km.

Yesterday when I arrived to Geilo sky was getting cloudy and wind had started to blow.

Today I've been waken up around 6 by the howling of the wind... Oh-oh... I'm afraid that today weather is not going to be so nice...

When I finally woke up at 8h the sky was totally grey and wind was still blowing.

What a difference from yesterday!!!

(luckily yesterday, I my first day in Norway, weather was kind enough to give me a wonderful day!)

I packed everything, finished the orange juice I got yesterday from the hamburguer kiosk and left the apartment even cleaner that I had found it (didn't want to be charged for an extra cleaning service!).

Today sunglasses were not going to be needed.

It's going to start raining any moment...

Took road 7 up to Hol and there I changed to road 50.

I stopped in a Statoil petrol station to get breakfast for Heidi.

Then I realize that the SIM card I got on Saturday (from a company called 'Chess') is not working yet... (a lady on the line is telling something in Norwegian that I somehow understand that means that the SIM is not registered).

In this petrol station they also sell this type of cards so I ask the lady behind the counter for help. She is extremly helpful and does all the registration process for me (apparently the petrol station from Kristiansand hadn't done that). In theory in a couple of hours it's going to work. Good!
Just before I leave the petrol station it starts to rain. Not a lot, just a bit. Mmmmm...

Road 50 starts to climb. Landscape is really beautiful. I take some pics but no many. There are endless electric towers everywhere and it's difficult to make a nice pic without taking some of them...

I see the first 'beware of sheep' road sign. I'm very cautious with sheep. Last summer during a trip to Iceland a group of 3 sheep gave me the biggest fright of my life. They crossed in front of me and my F650GS in a pretty fast strip of the road. One of them even bumped into my right leg! (but with no consequences for any of us). So now, when I'm told that sheep are around, I usually slow down and try be extracareful...

I take a pic of the sign and see that there are some sheep around. They are in small groups (2-3), exactly the same as in Iceland. But they look a bit different... More 'tidy'. Anyway, they are sheep and you never know what they are going to do, so be careful!

As the road winds up the hill, temperature goes down... It gets down to 10 degrees Celsius. And it rains a bit more... Still bearable.

One the way down to Aurland there are some tunnels to take. The first of them is pretty long... and cold!!! Temp goes to 7 degrees in there, I was freezing! The others are not so long and hence not so cold. Rain is getting annoying...

I stop in Aurland for an early lunch. No way I can picnic today. I get a couple of sandwitches. One with smoked salmon and eggs and the other with shrimps and eggs. Good dose of protein! And expensive! Everything is really expensive in Norway!

I had come to Aurland because I wanted to take the mountain road to Laerdal (the one called 'the Snow Road'). However, now it was raining so much that I thought it was not going to be fun... To finish convinving myself, I tell myself that this spring I've seen enough snow in the Alps mountain roads...

The alternative to the mountain road is the Laerdal tunnel. It's almost 25 Km long and is the world longest road tunnel (second one is the Gotthard, in Switzerland). So it will be also 'an experience'...

Tunnel is gratis, no toll. Well paved, lighted and ventilated (not as some of the tunnels I did this morning). One 'interesting' thing about the tunnel are the 3 blue caverns. They are 3 sections of the tunnel that get wider and higher (a dome-like structure) and they are lit with blue lights. The first one I saw came as a surprise. But the effect is really nice. I stopped at the second one and took some pics (there was plenty of people doing the same). I learnt later in the day that even a couple got married in one of the caverns!

Once in Laerdal the idea was following road 5 until Sogndal. It was not raining now, yeiiii!!! I did something wrong in one of the roundabouts in Laerdal (thinking about other things, have to admit – everything was perfectly signalized) so I get into a wrong road (without realizing) that brought me to Vindidalen, where it ended. No regrets. The view of the fjord was great and the road was great fun.

Went back to Laerdal, took the correct road to Manhetter and there I took the ferry to Fodnes. Was a bit nervous before taking it, but then I realized that everything was easy and very well organized. I was happy to feel the ferry deck had a good grip, even wet. What a difference from the ferry to Tunisia from January!!! It was so slippery that you even had difficulties to walk, imagine manouvering a bike!

Once in Fodnes took road to Sogndal. Was raining again. And more and more... The landscape from Sogndal to Lunde was beautiful! Very beautiful But it was raining so much that I didn't feel for stopping and taking pics. Was a bit pissed off. When getting closer to Lunde I could see one of the tongues of the Jostedalbreen (the biggest glacier in continental Europe). That was a great sight so I stopped and managed to take a couple of pics under the rain. Camera got wet and I was not very happy about it but I had to take a pic of that!!! But I love glaciers! On my way back I'll try to come to this area again and hopefully weather will be better. If I have time, I'll join one of the guided tours in the glacier (did it last year in the Vatnajokull in Iceland -the biggest glacier of Europe- and was one of the best experiences ever!). Forgot to mention that this is a tool road. Had to pay around 75 NOKs.

It was raining more and more. I stopped in Skie for a late lunch for Heidi and a warm latte macchiato for me. SIM card still not working. Called the customer service from Chess and they couldn't tell me why. The lady on the phone told me she was going to call me back. I'm starting to get impatient with this people. I've travelled around the world getting SIM cards everywhere and never had these issues. Unacceptable!

Went on the road again. Looked like if rain was going to stop. Wrong impression! It got even heavier in a few Km. Was starting to get cold and I had that feeling of being wet. I know I wasn't (the Streeetward jacket and pants from BMW are great!) but I had the feeling...

Have to admit that was riding a bit tense. Too much water now. Pouring down from the sky, and being sprayed from the road by the vehicles on the opposite direction. I wanted the sun back!!!

When arriving to Byrkjelo I even forgot that I had to change road (wanted to go to Geiranger!) and continued up to Sandanes. I started to think I was doing something wrong but it was raining so much I didn't feel for stopping and checking.

After Sandane, ther was a break in the clouds.Sun was shyly shining and rain had almost stopped (but interestinglz just under that break). I realized I was in the wrong direction. F***! I was not goin to undo what I had done (hate coming back using the same road!) and weather that was not inviting at all (so cloudy you couldn't see the mountains!). Decided to ride to Anda and take the ferry to Lote. Once there, I was going to head to Geiranger. Not the 'straightest' route but I really wanted to get there.

Timing with the ferry was perfect. I arrived to the harbour, paid and got in! It was almost not raining now and the riding gear was getting dry (this is a very good thing of this jacket/pants – as soon as it stops raining, they get dry very quickly. Btw, don't be suspicious, I'm not sponsored by BMW (I wish I was!) but when something works well, I think is fair to acknowledge it.

I knew I had not done many Km today (and some of them had not been in the right direction) but I wanted to stop. With that idea on my mind, I rode through Nordfjordeid and took the road to Stryn. Decided that I was going to stop in the first nice place I found.

The road to Stryn was funny (no rain now!!!) and, as usual, landscape was nice so I had a great time. Once in Stryn I saw an hotel but it looked a bit too expensive so I tried to find an alternative. I ended up in the Stryn Vertshus. Looked welcoming and when checking the price decided I could afford it. Rooms were in the penthouse and were very cozy! There was a common space with cooking facilities so I rushed to the supermarket to get some food. Intrestingly there is a chain in Norway called Coop, same as in Switzerland! Colors of the logo are different but font type is even the same...

Got a tin of asparagus (felt I needed some fiber) and a fish soup. I also got some vitamin/mineral capsules (thought I had not been eating extremely healthy these last days, and didn't know how it was going to be the next ones).

Went to the ATM again (NOKs disapear from my wallet astonishingly fast!), bought a sticker for Heidi and went back 'home', where I had dinner and a very warm shower!

(By the way, I'm still waiting the Chess customer service to call and the SIM is not yet working, hahaha!!!)

Route Geilo-Stryn (not the more straight one, but fine!):

Road 50. Sky getting darker and darker...

Sheep! Be careful!

Lunchtime!

One of the blue caverns of the Laerdal Tunnel:

Vindedalen. Wrong road but nice view!

Ferry from Manhetter to Fodnes

Somewhere between Sogndal and Lunde (Jostedalsbreen Nat. Park)

Sunny ride through Telemark and Buskerud

Cell phone alarm started ringing at 8.00 AM. Couldn't wake up. Decided to count up to 25 and think then what to do next. I've ended up counting up to 150...

The problem is that yesterday I went to bed almost at 2 AM. Always happens the same to me, it takes an awful lot of time posting pics and writing reports on the road!

I've finished the apple juice I bought yesterday in the petrol station, loaded everything on the bike and just before 10 AM I was heading to road 41.

Wanted to see a bit of the interior of Norway and according to the map this road was going to be beautiful.

Weather couldn't be any better. Sunny, no clouds and a bit chilly.

At the beginning I was a bit disappointed with the road. One village was sticking to the other and speed limits were of 40-50 Km. My God! But things improved quickly. Less and less villages and road going up and getting twisty.

Suddendly I see the first 'beware of elks' sign. That's a 'must have' pic! So I've stopped and taken the coveted photo. Yeiii...

Road was getting better and better and landscape nicer and nicer. Wide (and not very deep) river making 'lake-like' shapes and lots of conifers. I've never been in Alaska or Canada but I guess it must look similar...

Around midday I was starving so decided to have a picnic.

I stopped in one of the many picnic areas around the Norwegian roads and enjoyed a couple of slices of Swiss bread (still in good condition!), olive oil from Southern Spain (can't eat bread without it!) and smoked beef meat from Switzerland (from the Graubunden!). Mmmmmm, everything was so tasty!

The only negative point: the bugs! Ugh, how many of them, what a pain! I wished several times I was a cow to have a tail to get rid of them...

I've had to stop several times to make pics. The landscape was beautiful.

Good decision having taken this road!

Once finished (in Brunkeberg), then I've taken a bit of the E134 and a bit of the 361 to get to road 40. In the map this one looked promising as well.

Reality: it was OK, but 41 wass better!

I have to say that both of them (40 and 41) were not in a very good condition (to say it nicely). The route was great (endless smooth curves one after the other) but the surface was soooo bumpy!

But when I say bumpy I mean REALLY bumpy.

I was standing on the bike most of the time just to avoid the shakes due to the potholes...

Well, and not only for the potholes...

My butt was aching so much that I had to find some ways to make me feel better... (this special super-super-super low seat I have, helps me to reach the ground, but is killing my butt...). I know that in the next days it will get better, but the first trip days are hard!

One of the funniest part of road 40 is from Uvdal to Dagali. It climbs up to 1100 metres (ski station area) and has quite a few funny curves. Love going up the hill with the 1200, hahaha...

However, this stretch was the worst of the whole day in terms of bumps. My God, even for the GS some of them were too much...

I've arrived to Geilo around 18h and decided that I could call it a day so it was time to find somewhere to sleep.

One sign next to the road was advertising for appartments and decided to go for one. Best decision ever! For the same price as yesterday, today I got a full-equiped apartment for me (even bigger than the flat I've rented in Switzerland!).

The pitty was that I hadn't any 'cookable' food with me and. being Sunday 18h, nothing was open to get food.

So I went for a walk in town and ended up eating a huge hamburger in a local fast-food shop (1000 times better than the one yesterday at MD).

With my belly full, went back to the apartment, had a relaxing shower and started my daily homework.

Numbers of the day: 440 Km ridden, 8.5h hours on the road (picnic and quick visit to Uvdal Stave church included).

And, as usual, some pics!

Pics Norway 2010

Rutita soleada por el Telemark y Buskerud
Domingo 4 de Julio de 2010
Kristiansand-Geilo, 440 Km.

No me podia levantar.

3 Jul 2010

I'm in Norway!!!

I'm writing from Kristiansand, everything happened as planned, yeiii!

Friday I was working as mad and had to pack everything late afternoon in a ridiculously short amount of time... Thanks God the checklist was prepared since a while ago and I think I have all what I will need... :-)

Went to Lörrach (D), checked in and waited patiently until it was time to load the bike on the train. It was really warm! Was sweating a lot! I was also a bit nervous, never had done that before (and specially because Heidi is 'a bit' heavy for me and was not quite sure what I had to do...

I learnt that bikes are loaded in the lower deck of the wagons and I was told to bring Heidi to the start of the train. I had to ride through all the wagons of the train and was a bit claustrophobic → the ceiling it's very low and couldn't sit upright when riding , I had to duck! But everything went well, no issues! The DB guys were securing the bikes so there was nothing else for me to do, so I went to my cabin. Cosy!

This morning we've arrived punctually at 7.15 in Hamburg-Altona. Since Heidi was at the head of the train, I was one of the first ones to leave the station. Great!

Finding my way to motorway A7 has been very easy. Everything was perfectly signalized! Love the Germans!

Weather was sunny. At 8.30h I was already sweating, ugh! Motorway was crowded. Both lanes full. Many kilometres riding at 80Km/h because the motorway couldn't absorb so much traffic. But thanks God, no jams.

The Dänish motorway was not so crowded but most of the people drive very slow. Many of them were overtaking caravans at the 'vertiginous' speed of 80 Km/h... in places where you could ride up to 130! Was getting a bit nervous...

Arrived to Hirtshals much earlier than expected. Check in was due to start at 16h and I was there at 14h... No problem, I always have things to do. Took my boots off, got my flip-flops and went for a short walk. While walking, I found a 'ferret-like' animal. Thought it could be hungry so showed it a croissant I had on my bag. The ferret showed interest so I offered some bits that quickly disapeared in its mouth. Then I remembered that I also had a bit of 'pâte' in the bag. Thought it was much more appropriate for a ferret so there went my lunch... But the ferret was happy, so I was happy, too.

While queueing for the ferry I met some very nice bikers. A Serbian guy heading to North Cape, a Californian guy riding a German BMW and two Norwegian guys riding a couple of almost 'classic' Yamahas FZR...

Mikael, one of the Norwegians was very helpful explaining me how the damned straps with ratchet worked (had no clue - never used ratchets before, only 'normal straps' with knots!).

I've spent the whole ferry trip with the two Norwegians. Great fun! And I also got great advice from them on nice roads and things to visit. Thanks a mil!!!

When leaving the ferry I had a critical moment. All motorbikes were in a low deck, with some slope and while maneuvering the bike to go out, I hit one of the 'bumps' on the floor used to secure the bikes and lost balance towards de right. Ughhhhhhhhhh! That horrible feeling that the bike is falling and you can't do anything to avoid it... But by miracle I managed to keep it standing! Well, not by miracle, all the muscles in my right leg are still aching... It was very close...

Once in town I looked for the room I had booked in advance for spending the night. Very practic 'hotel' next to the harbour (no way that's a hotel, not even a hostel!!!). I got my 'plain clothes' and went for a walk through Kristiansand. Got a Norwegian SIM card in a petrol station, some cash in an ATM, a hamburger and some french fries in a McD and went for a relaxing walk next to the shore. Great end of the day!

And here some pics:

Yesterday in Germany, Heidi loaded in the train!

Mañana me voy! (si sobrevivo hasta entonces!)

(For English text, scroll down)

Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to Lörrach (Germany) where I'm loading Heidi into a train that will bring us to Hamburg.

This is the first time I'm travelling by train with a motorbike. I wanted to make the most of this 2,5 weeks and, since the train is travelling during the night, it's a great way of getting extra time in Norway! And... I will skip 900Km of boring German motorway!

If everything happens as scheduled, Saturday morning I'll be in Hamburg and, from there, I'll be heading to Hirtshals (Northern coast of Denmark), where I want to take the late afternoon ferry to Kristiansand (Southern coast of Norway). Let's see how everything goes...

I'll try to keep you posted during the trip! Big hug!

Besos,

Marta & Heidi.

Yeah!
In a bit more than one week, Heidi and I will be heading to Norway!
Destination: Knivskjelloden (the real North Cape).
But... the fact is that if we don't get to the top top top, we don't care at all. Our priority is enjoying the Norwegian landscapes, seeing Musk oxes and trying to spot some White-tailed Eagles...
We'll keep you posted!
Big hug,
Marta & Heidi.

Embarrandome un poquillo

Día 6 – Sábado 16 de Enero
Bizerte – Le Kef 245 Km.

Hace sol. Que gusto! Que dure por favor! Voy a desayunar. Y si me caigo? A mi estás sensaciones me dan pánico!!! Y empieza a hacer fresquillo. No veo indicadores. Voy tirando recto. Empiezo a encontrar obras. Finalmente llego a Beja. Ahora llueve a cantaros. Guai, ahora me quedo mas tranquila. Me dejan marchar.
